Planetarium is a new co-living community and creative laboratory in East Bay comprised of founders, artists, and design leaders.

We are looking for investment partners for the down payment of a property to build a co-living platform to host a series of decentralized artist fellowship programs with the mission of cultivating resilient long-term collaborations between the historically divided tech and art communities in the Bay Area. Our vision is to create a robust, open-source launchpad from which to seed a worldwide network of physical creative communities.

Our team is diverse: consisting of PoC and female/nonbinary founders. The space will have capacity for 10-20 residents and incorporate studios and offices for artists and founders, a multimillion dollar, state-of-the-art creative fabrication laboratory, kitchen/bathroom/living area for residents, and capacity for shows, performances, and events.

Opening date set for Spring 2022.

🏠 ****Co-Living House

We have recruited an initial batch of 12 long-term residents, consisting of primarily founders across the fields of digital community, biotech, art, crypto, design, security, and ed-tech.

🧪 Creative Laboratory

Planetarium is partnering with kinetic LED art collective, Foldhaus, to create a multimillion dollar creative fabrication and electronics lab as a shared community maker-space

🖼️  Artist Residency

We are designing a series of DAO-enabled fellowship and residency programs to create long-term collaborations between the local Oakland art and tech communities.

🎵 Events Venue

Planetarium will include a blue-sky events venue for performances and gallery shows. Proceeds from events will be distributed to investors, residents, and the community.

Why Now?

Three conditions came together that sparked the launch of this project in early Jan 2022:

  1. A multitude of exceptional creative/tech founders in our network are moving back to the bay area in Spring.
  2. The opportunity came to inherit a multimillion dollar creative fabrication lab and all of the equipment within.
  3. Recent developments in DAO and broader decentralized technologies allow for the realization of our long-term vision of an international network of creative spaces.
